[Qgis-user] GPS - "The layer is not a valid layer"

My eTrex has a USB connection so you probably want:
gpsbabel -w -i garmin -f USB: -o gpx -F waypoints.out

In the QGIS GPS plugin (Device Editor) that would become:
%babel -w -i garmin -f usb: -o gpx -F %out
