[Qgis-user] gps formats

I'm trying to display a gps track file in IGC format
The GPS plugin gives an error at converting the IGC file
into GPX. Nevertheless, I can do it in the terminal with no problem,i.e.:

gpsbabel -i IGC -f test2009.IGC -o gpx -F test2009.gpx

works fine and I can display test2009.gpx with the GPS plugin.
If the GPS plugin is suppossed to use gpsbabel, why does it
not work with the IGC file?
