[Qgis-user] floating values crash qgis

Hi all,
I try to apply colors to polygons based on a floating attribute 
(symbology>unique value or via the render layer plugin) but qgis (1.0.2 and 
1.1.0) crashes immediately. Is it a bug or is there something special to do 
(qgis installed  from PPA)?
