[Qgis-user] selecting invisible polygons with "Select Feature"

Hi,

When editing vector attributes I normally limit the display polygons
based on an attribute column (like water for a landcover polygon
layer).

Then I interactively select individual polygon ("Select Feature") for
further attribute editing.  However, when I looked at the attribute
table, the selected features includes the "invisible" polygons
adjacent to the feature I selected.  Probably due to my quirky mouse
selection skill.

Is this (selecting invisible polygon) a feature or a bug?
