[Qgis-user] Opening a bunch (~50) of gpx files

Hi!

I have to open many (~50) gpx files with gps tracks.
The gps plugin let select just one file at a time. I can select
all of the files with Add vector layer, but then I'm prompted to
select the layer (waypoints, routes, tracks, route_points, track_points)
for each file. Is there any way to bypass this step so that I open
the track layer only for all files? Perhaps through a python
command issued on the python console?
If I use
qgis *.gpx
as startup, I open the files but as point layers, which are actually empty.
