[Qgis-user] Newbie to GIS and QGIS

Download the QGIS Manual.

Read few pages before you start the qgis project. You need do you own
labeling. Shapefile will just give you polygons, points and lines -
not maps.

Google some QGIS tutorials.

QGIS is GIS software to draw some maps and analyze data, just like
ArcGIS or any other GIS software.
