ah, and to make it scriptable: (don't know on which OS you are), but if 
you open QGIS from commandline you can even give it the name of the 
project file, and it will open that project at once (see 'qgis --help'):

  qgis /home/richard/temp/csvtest.qgs

In that way you can let your script do your csv export, and open the 
data in QGIS in one click :-)
