if you are on windows, you need to install the gdal17-ecw package (using
the osgeo4w installer) then go on the Erdas site, register, login,
download the jpg2000/ecw sdk (and accept their licence), install the sdk
and then copy the .dlls you'll find in a folder called "redistributable"
into the system32 folder.
