[Qgis-user] KML to GoogleEarth

Hey, Percy: That's a good idea about the GPS exchange format (i had forgotten that GE reads GPX, tho i have used it for mapping trails exported from my GPS in the past). Unfortunately it doesn't work for polygon data (as contained in this zoning map that is the layer i want to export), per the following error msg:

Export to vector file failed.
Error: creation of layer failed (OGR error:Geometry type of `Polygon' not supported in GPX.
)

As to Giovanni's suggestion: it makes sense, so i have changed the CRS default at a global level to this:
            +proj=longlat +ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +no_defs   
,but that only works on whatever new layers i may create, the dialog says. 

So, since QGIS can't do the xlation for me on export (i.e. Layer -> "save as" KML, with WGS84 set for CRS), i guess i will have to go back to sources and reload all my data into new layers with the CRS reset to WGS84. This could take some time, but it does give me a way forward, at least.
