[Qgis-user] New to QGis

Hello all,
  
   I am graduate student in Geology. I just came across QGis (also new to GIS) and I had a few questions:

Is there a searchable archive of the mailing list?

I was given a shapefile with a series of survey points in it. I want to connect these points to make a line plot. I looked through the gentle intro and manual but didn't see how this was done. Any recommendations?
