[Qgis-user] Adding Scalebar to QgsMapCanvas

I'm trying to create a small standalone application using the Qgis Python
libraries.

I started with an application similar to the example posted here:
http://blog.qgis.org/node/59

I would like to see a scalebar added to the canvas. How can I achieve this?
