Hi, I'd like to "rudely" interject here.

In our use of QGIS (multiple versions) I have found there are some UI
elements which will unknowingly cause QGIS to crash on certain machines
(Mac and Windows).

On some machines using a contextual element to perform a task will cause a
crash, while using a "button" element or perhaps a "menu" element will not
cause a crash, vice a vice versa in some instances.

It may help your 'cause to be extremely detailed in all your steps with
exact use of the UI (if only for your own well being) to narrow what it is
causing the crashes.

For instance
(only in my case, not suggesting it is yours I am using this as an example)

I found that "double Clicking" a Layer to invoke the "Layer Properties"
window would cause QGIS to crash when I clicked the "Apply" or "OK" button
in the "Layer Properties" window.

However, if I Control/Clicked the "Layer" and selected "Properties"
everything would be fine.

This meant having to adjust how i interacted with QGIS UI, and took me
forever to solve the issue as it was seemingly random, until I took notice
of my very exact steps.

I am sorry that you are having these problems, there are fewer things as
frustrating as having software crash with no apparent reason when you
depend on it.

Good luck in your debugging hunt!

mars
