[Qgis-user] Problems after upgrading to qgis 1.8 solved by downgrading python-gdal

After upgrading to qgis1.8 from ubuntugis-unstable
on ubuntu 10.04, I got many errors at startup related to
python plugins. All error messages had in common:
"version GDAL_1.8 not defined in file libgdal.so.1 with link time reference"
Also, the GdalTools plugin complained:
Unable to load GdalTools plugin.
The required "osgeo [python-gdal]" module is missing.
Install it and try again.
Problems solved by downgrading python-gdal 1.9.1-2 to 1.8.02 (Select
python-gdal in Synaptic then Package/Force Version and select
1.8.02)
