Hi everyone,
Trying the value 'utf-8' (no quotes) in a .cpg file did not work for me
(caps or not)
But i did find that i could get around the problem for now by opening my
shapefile's .dbf with Libreoffice Calc, (which opens it fine) and saving
the dbf (save as, same name, overwrite).
So at least that's a simple way to fix that for the time being.
