Maybe using Nabble as Alex suggested could bring both groups closer
together again.

I think it would be valuable for the developers as well as the users if
there would be more communication and information exchange between the two
groups.

I'd rather avoid splitting the community by advertising a Google group. Or
can that be somehow combined with existing mailing lists?
