I think the count field is automatically added to te resulting table.

I also agree with Spencer in that most of the time I find using a db
and SQL more convenient for spatial analysis --besides a more
organized way to store my data. Using spatialite with QGIS is really
esay and you can import/export data from/to most common formats.
