[Qgis-user] Large raster datasets in 2.0

Hi Kris,
  The WMS is a cunning plan but this is going into a location (a fire
command vehicle) where simplicity is key; setting up a GeoServer instance
would add complexity that would require maintainence. Also QGIS 2.0 seems a
little flaky with WMS, at least for us. A single file would be optimal.

I do understand the use of JP2 and ECW for such large datasets, should work

QGIS 2.0, or at least the weekly builds, doesn't include support for either
of these two formats as far as I can tell otherwise I'd just use them and
save myself the bother of conversion.

I'll have to look into the VRT stuff - I've not tried them before.
