Werner,

Appreciate the quick response!

Currently I opened up the shp file with the Add Vector layer option. I
don't see how to edit from here or the nodes. Am I wrong track?

Right now I have the dbf file with the states and counties I want
included. Now just a matter of how to get proper shp and shx files.

That is why they shouldn't give this job to an accountant! LOL

Hi!

Not sure if i understand you .. you have a Shapefile (which usually
consists of 3-6 different files including .shp .shx .dbf .prj and so on) -
but you only add the .shp with add vector layer ..
Then everything should already be inside QGIS ..
The rest is just a matter of editing, selecting, deleting ..
If you only have the shp file - then someone fooled you ;)

good luck
kind regards
Werner

P.S: lets stick to the mailing list -- just for the logs
