[Qgis-user] GDAL_DATA error with OS GML converter plugin

Hi,

I'm trying to use the OS GML tools in qgis 1.8.0 with GDAL 1.9 on Ubuntu 12.04 but get the following error when I open the converter dialogue:

<Please ensure that the GDAL_DATA environment variable is set and try again>

I've had a look around the internet and tried to set the variable manually (<export GDAL_DATA=/usr/share/gdal>) but to no effect.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
