[Qgis-user] Moving / copying layers (e.g. WMS) between projects without editing xml project file

Is there a way to copy a WMS layer from one project to another, without editing the .XML project file in a text editor?

I have created a nice rendering of the Canadian Toporama topographic maps.  If I add the layer using the add-wms dialogue I have to specify what sublayers I want, and the order I want them, which is recorded in the XML of the project file for the last time I used topo maps.

(Unfortunately “load style” or “copy style” doesn’t seem to load the rendering order nor the projection information.  Also copying layers between projects by editing the .XML project file is not particularly easy...)
