[Qgis-user] Minimum Bounding Rectangle by Width

Hi,
Does anyone know any methodology within qgis to obtain the minimum bounding
box of a polygon by its width? Preferably with a line output? Or has
someone written a script for that?

Currently all I find is the bounding box but that calculates the minimum
rectangle along length -

i.e. the minium bounding box will always be orientated towards north.
