Hi,
The service configuration is optional. If you did not specify a
PostgreSQL service you should leave the service field empty.
Services are a good way to keep PostgreSQL connections independent of
IP-addresses and computer names. You define a service and can exchange
the datatabase server underneath that service (running on a different
ip/name) but under the same service name.
I use PG servcices for all of my QGIS projects because I need to move
them around on different servers.
