Your GIS layer has only "area" geometry. You need to first extract nodes
(under the same menu) and then add geometry columns.

Negative, that just adds two columns with area and perimeter to the
layer. I really need a way to update the geometry field. Is that not
possible?

Subject: [Qgis-user] How to update the geometry of a table
Greetings all,
I have a couple hundred rows of a table that I would like to
update with new coordinates, I'm trying to figure out how to do
this in QGIS (i.e. i know i can do this through the sql tool).
I can't see a way to modify the geometry directly in the field
calculator. I'm trying to do this regardless of the layer type .
Regards,
Rhys
