[Qgis-user] statusbar_trouble_scalestuck

Dear QGIS community!

I am using a Mac operating system(version 10.9.5) and QGIS 2.4.0 Chugiak. I
also downloaded
the other requirements(GDAL Complete 1.11 framework package and Matplotlib
Python module)
all downloaded from this site (http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/qgis). The
installation seemed to go alright, now I will try to describe my problem.
When ever I try to change the scale back(at the status bar) to a reasonable
scale( 1:1,000,000), it doesn't budge from the crazy
scale(1:-2,147,483,648). Also the coordinates seem to be off. (I provided a
screenshot attachted to
this email.
