[Qgis-user] how to create a style file for rasters? --> Processing QGIS algorithm 'Set style for raster layer'

Hello,
describing the above mentioned algorithm for the user manual I'd like to
know which formatting the style file for a raster layer has to have.
Can I use a *.txt file?
From QGIs 2.8. I can see that I can load a color map for the singleband
pseudocolor. Is this the same function as the above mentioned algorithm?
