Hi Keith,

it would have been better to answer to the list, so that others can 
benefit from the answers too.

There are many bugs related to the Print Composer and the OpenLayers 
plugin. So I adivise you to switch to the QuickMap Services plugin, and 
see if the problem remains.

Personally, I do not use the print composer, so I can't help on matters 
related to it.
