[Qgis-user] Labels on lines should hide line

Hi, when drawing a depth contour line on a map, I want to show the depth of
the line as a label on the map. I use the label function in the Layer
attributes dialog box and take the depth from a field in the same shapefile.
My problem is that the depth line is still shown behind the number, making
it hard to read. I want the depth contour line not to show where the number
is, how do I do this? I do NOT want to for instance put a white background
behind the number, I just do not want the line to show behind and a few mm
from the number.
