[Qgis-user] Cant magnify on a tile server

Hello,

I have a WMS Tile server setup that will allow me to zoom up to a certain
level like most tile servers.

In this case however, I want to be able to zoom in on the last tile set
served. I have a leaflet.js server setup elsewhere and this allows me to
set a native zoom level of the tile server and then I can zoom in even
further beyond the max zoom set by the tile server and the display will
just leave up the highest resolution tile it can give me.

In QGIS I assumed I would be able to do this by locking the zoom at the
highest zoom level allowed by the tile server and then using the magnify
option to zoom in further. This seems to work up to a certain point (like
200%) and then the tiles disappear again.

Is there a way to allow QGIS to zoom in beyond what a tile server will
serve by simply scaling up the last set of tiles that a tile server will
serve?

I'm using QGIS 2.18
