[Qgis-user] composer item - map geometry comparison

Hi,

I’m trying to find a way to test whether item(s) on a composer are
obscuring part of the atlas feature so that I can dynamically move item(s)
if needed.

Is there a way to either

a) Convert the bbox (or even better actual geom) of the atlas feature
to composer coordinates

b) Convert the extents of a composer item to geographic coordinates,
relative to the composer map

Any tips would be gratefully received. I’ve had a look at the API and found
a few things like mapToItemCoords but can’t work out what to do with them.
I also wondered if there’s no built in way to transform whether it’s
possible to do it mathematically as I have the geographic and page extents
of the composer map item. I’m guessing there’s some way of converting any
point in between, but it’s beyond my brain to try and work out how!

Thanks for any help

Tom
