[Qgis-user] pattern match a shapefile

I am curious if QGIS is able to pattern match a shapefile drawn from road structure drawn here against other online shapefiles of parts of the USA.
I would expect that there are specialists who am able to do such things but would like to know if the average user can do similar tasks.
