[Qgis-user] Point layer output from modeller point parameter

Thanks Nyall,

This isn't mission critical work or anything. What I am experimenting with here, taking advantage of the fact that in QGIS 3.x you can point algs in the modeller at data outside your project, is creating a set of ready to use analysis tools for our users.

Is it worth putting a feature request in for something like this?

I don't know C++ but I've got the python basics and use the console in QGIS from time to time, it's a skill I want to develop given time. I'll have a look at the template.

Unfortunately not (at least, not out of the box). There's an algorithm
which converts an extent parameter to a vector layer, but the
equivalent doesn't exist (yet) for point parameters.

The source for "extent to layer" is at
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/blob/master/src/analysis/processing/qgsalgorithmextenttolayer.cpp,
if you know c++ and feel like adding a point version. Otherwise, you
could use a similar approach and create a python script algorithm
using the script template to do this task.
