Hi Pascale,

You will need some kind of hosting, yes.  Depending on your needs you may not need a website, you could try a platform like QGIS Cloud?

https://qgiscloud.com/  (free for non-commerial/non-governmental use, up to 50mb).

Or you could try hosting on github?

Hello,

I have never used QGIS so far, but I am wondering if I can use it to then create a webGIS (exporting the layers created in QGIS to display them on a web platform).

I saw this plugin 'QGIS2web': does it create a web GIS to display the data online or do I need to use a (free) website builders like Wix to create a WebGIS?
