Hi,
Recently there has been a discussion on a similar task:

Where solutions were discussed for manually digitized streams.
If you however can live with deriving streams from a terrain module, I would use the r.stream.* modules for this job:

Especially, r.stream.distance:
https://grass.osgeo.org/grass74/manuals/addons/r.stream.distance.html
