[Qgis-user] Generate tiles or qgis as a tile server

Hi,

We have a map of a large area (2600 Km x 1300 Km).

I'd like to generate tiles (Slippy Map, to be used by Leaflet).

I've tried to use QTiles and QMetaTiles and I'm having memory problems.
I've tried a few times with QTiles and I see the memory usage going up
and it hasn't started generating tiles, it seems that QMetaTiles has the
same problem.

So, two questions:
a) Any other way to generate tiles to be used by Leaflet or other
software? (other plugins, other ideas)
b) I've been searching for this but I haven't found it: could qgis (via
a plugin or no plugin) act as a tile server? That would be ideal and
work for us: no tile generation.

I know that generating the tiles for such a big area if I go to very
high zoom levels will take very long time. I wouldn't mind if it took a
matter of days (specially if I "could see the progress" either in files
generated or somehow). I also know that the storage would be very big.
The main problem is obviously the RAM memory used by QTiles, so I
wondered if there is any other approach or something to optimize.

Thank you very much,
