[Qgis-user] Extend of area under a specified level

Hi,
I have a DEM of an are with a lake in it and I would like to use QGIS to
map the potential surface of the lake for a specified water level above the
one on the map. In other words I would like to map the area of the DEM
adjacent to the lake that lies below this defined increased lake water
level.
Does anyone know how to do that?
