Andrea thank you. MacOS is Big Sur 11.6.1, Qgis version is 3.22.4-Białowieża direct from Qgis website, updated from an earlier version, which made me wonder if updating is causing the error. Perhaps I need to uninstall completely before installing the next version? I will look at thise 2 links you sent… Thanks!

You may possibly need this file. It could help if you explained the steps you are using to import the file and your version of QGIS. The version of the dwg would also help as QGIS is picky on the dwg file version. If I recall, you can import a dwg as a file or under the project menu. I would use the project menu. If you have access to AutoCAD, change the file to a DXF. An other option is to do that with FME. If it?s for a none commercial use, they have a ? free ? version made for learning.
