[Qgis-user] SHP does not obey to change its SRC to a new one

Allan,

"When I import a SHP to be place above a DEM under WGS 4326 it does not adjust to this SRC after assigning this code and even when it is reprojected remains with the original UTM-SRC."

I know its a basic principle but do you save the reprojected file as a new file? QGIS does not change the projection of the underlying file. You need to save the reprojected file into a new file in order to keep the changed projection.

Allan,
are you sure that the native shape's CRS is 4326? If so there isn't a reason for the overlay not works, otherwise you need to know the native shape's CRS then ensure to it's correctly define in shape's properties, if both of CRS (DEM and shape) are correctly defined the overlay outcome automatcally

Dear All,
Excuse my very basic question and please explain me the steps to solve this problem:
When I import a SHP to be place above a DEM under WGS 4326 it does not adjust to this SRC after assigning this code and even when it is reprojected remains with the original UTM-SRC. This problem comes from time to time.

Best,

Allan López
