[Qgis-user] Unable to open LAS file in QGIS

Hi,

  As far as I understand, QGIS can convert the point cloud to the Entwine
Point Tile (EPT) format, or to the Cloud Optimized Point Cloud (COPC)
format, to represent it.
  Yours is probably trying to convert the point cloud to EPT, which often
has problems with the names and sizes of the files it converts.
  In that case, when loading the layer, you would see a directory with the
ept prefix appear in the same location as the LAS file, for example:
ept_point_cloud/.
  Inside it, there should be two other directories with the tile files,
which do not seem to exist.

  If you can confirm the existence of the ept_ directory, and the absence
of the tiles files within the generated subdirectories, then the conversion
to EPT has failed.
  You can try to build the data with Entwine[1]. Once built, you will be
able to load the LAS file as a point cloud layer in QGIS to represent it.
