[Qgis-user] Issues rendering after pasting into layers

Morning,
Running 3.40.9-Bratislava, small project with a handful of layers.

When copying selected polygons into another polygon layer I am not getting the new polygons rendering in the view. The Feature Total of the layer goes up, and the nodes appear as red crosses, but there is no rendering of the polygons. The layer is at top of the layer bar and opacity bar is 100% so is not that

Also getting issues with the view freezing if I uncheck layers and the layer does not disappear from view, or the whole view goes blank, or cannot pan or zoom

Have restarted QGIS several times and restarted computer. Any suggestions appreciated for the rookie error I have made!
Best wishes

Chiz
