[Qgis-user] QGIS 3.40.4 LTS query bug in GDAL/vzip - errors in create virtual raster... and merge... processes

 Advice from the QGIS Stackexchange pages suggested I post here first before raising a bug report, so please advise if at all possible.
My problem is with QGIS 3.40.4 under Windows and Linux (Xubuntu).
The Raster \ Miscellaneous \ Create virtual raster and the Merge processes both fail in both OSs. See the Stackexchange page:https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/491275/gdal-vzip-failure-in-qgis-3-40-4-lts-osgeo4w
This could be my setup but now appears to have been replicated elsewhere, and across OSs seems like a possible bug. As above, please advise.
