Are you doing this as an indivdual hobbyist, as your use of gmail
suggests, or are you part of park management, or ? (OK to ask for help
either way, but I think organizational use asking for help should use
organizational emails.)

I am shocked, shocked that "AI tutorials" were not useful. Most
egregiously, they seem not to have made you aware of the actual
documentation. I suggest that you and everybody else not encourage
"AI" and all its problems by looking at them.
Some actual human-written correct content to read:
https://docs.qgis.org/3.44/en/docs/user_manual/index.html
and specifically:
https://docs.qgis.org/3.44/en/docs/user_manual/print_layout/index.html
What you are trying to do is not odd, so it should be straightforward.
I recommend that you have a project where you only have layers that you
want in the map. That should ease the process of displaying the Legend.
I forget the customization details, but pretty much everything I used to
know was in the manual.
