 The rational makes sense, I'm just concerned with clutter. Do we have or
 can we make a policy to retire certain lists at various dates, to keep the
 mail list management cleaner? With such a plan in place I have no
 objections to the list creation.

 If we retire lists, we should of course ensure archives exist in
 appropriate places before removing them from the list server.
