Hi Swapnil,
Your question seems to ask clarification about the relation between https://live.osgeo.org/en/quickstart/virtualization_quickstart.html and https://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/3.8.x/en/maintainer-guide/installing/index.html. The 2 pages are not related. OSGeo live offers an instant preinstalled experience, no need to install software (however the OSGeo live system needs to be deployed in a Virtual Machine or as a bootable dvd, this page explains how). The GeoNetwork page refers how to install the GeoNetwork software only on a clean system.

To only run the GeoNetwork software consider to use the geonetwork installer, the installer will setup geonetwork including a jetty container.
You need Java 8 to be able to run the installer
