I agree with Daniel and Frank (projects and soc mailing list should be
enough) but I find the idea of a Wiki page in order to share progress
reports very interesting. Why not create a dedicated area in the wiki
for that purpose? Each student will be responsible for feeding and
editing their page (it is an opportunity for them to learn and practice
this collaborative tool which is central in OSGeo everyday activities).
A page linking all the 20 progress report pages could be added to
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code_2008. Notices could
thus be sent to the discuss mailing list on a regular basis (1/4,
mid-term, 3/4 and at the end of the summer) in order to invite people to
have a look on that page and all reports and milestones/goals achieved
by the different projects. In addition, it allows students who will
apply to the 2009 edition (and next) of the GSOc program to know more
about previous projects and types of difficulties or challenges previous
students have faced. It could also be usefull for OSGeo in order to
provide (if required) Google or other parties with some info or reports
about the GSoC projects.
