If you want to participate in proposing ideas, you just need

to send us (admins: <gsoc-admin at osgeo dot org>) the URL for your project's ideas page.



Remember that every idea should indicate:


    • A title

    • A description

    • 2 mentors

    • A test for the students to submit to your evaluation. The test aims at evaluating if the student is capable for the project, so please design the test having in mind the skills required to complete the project. (For reference: [3][4])


Time is short, we need to collect all URLs strictly by 5th February 2024 so as to complete OSGeo’s org application before 6th February 2024 [6]. After submitting an organisation application Google's admins will start evaluating the organisations based on the submitted ideas pages and decide which orgs will be accepted for the GSoC 2024.


Note: GSoC 2024 comes with some new changes in the program. We sincerely request to go through the announcement mentioning new changes.

1. For 2024 we have the concept of Small ~90 hour projects that are a standard 8 weeks long (you can extend them but we suggest not extending beyond 12 weeks for the small projects). Orgs aren't required to have small projects available but we would like to see some orgs try it out.

2. GSoC 2024 is looking to have more AI/ML orgs involved this year so please encourage open source AI/ML projects that you think are doing cool things to apply for GSoC 2024 (and they can use you as a reference).

On this same note, if your org has AI/ML projects be sure to select Artificial Intelligence as one of your Categories (you can select 2). You also will likely want to add that into your 'Topics' tags as well.
