Hi,
find the news of the last OGC Technical Committee meeting here:
http://www.ogcnetwork.net/node/1469
- From a strategic point of view please remember that OGC offers
membership slots for OSGeo developers to attend this type of meeting and
become part of working groups. To qualify you need to be working on a
project that is not under the regime of a commercial entitiy that could
also be an OGC member because this would conflict with OGC's revenue
model. This might make the impression of OGC processes not being open
enough - but before you actually start flaming on this aspect consider
the opportunity that OGC gives FOSS developers and OSGeo throught our
Memorandum of Understanding. I think we need need to respect that other
orgs have other funding models but can still be open and "good". And
lastly - we can use the open processes of the OGC to suggest changes or
amendments, get into a dialog and see what we can do. One result of this
contact is that we have the above linked type of reports in the web for
all to see.
Best regards,
Arnulf
PS:
Just a bit tired of the boring standards nerd's role. Why don't we see
it as a chance and not something we have to fight?
