[TCMUG] Google Summer of Code 2009

Hey All,

A note for any students out there (or anyone who would like to forward this
to any students they know).

Mentoring organizations for the Google Summer of Code have just been
announced.  This is a great opportunity for students to have a paid
internship writing code for 100 different Open Source Communities.  Of
particular note to this group, OSGeo has once again been selected as a
mentoring organization with opportunities for working on many different
OSGeo projects.  There are also further GIS opportunities with the Sahana
project.  Sahana is a disaster management program that came out of efforts
that began in the aftermath of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka December 2004.  I
have been involved with this group since 2006 and am acting as the
administrator for their Summer of Code programs again this year.  If anyone
is interested in how to get more information about either of these, please
let me know.  The application period for students begins March 23rd and
closes April 3rd.
