All,
We had a good meeting last month, with lots of discussion after the presentation on the MNSAV app.
I’ve been a little lax the last couple of months on posting the recordings, I’ll have the list updated later today at our Local chapter page at the link below.
Title: Picking Up Speed with Docker and PostGIS
Description: Docker is a great tool for maintaining consistent installations across platforms, and makes it easier to share not just code but the installation for it. We'll use this aspect of Docker to get started with Postgres 12 and PostGIS 3. Once the system is set up, we will explore some of the ways that Postgres and PostGIS can speed up GIS processing.
Bio: Bill Mitchell has a background in chemistry (and geochemistry), where he picked up experience with programming and data analysis. After sustained exposure to people working on remote sensing and other geospatial topics, he learned enough GIS to process Landsat imagery of Heard Island (and McDonald Islands). His PostGIS involvement began with a project analyzing radio propagation conditions based on amateur radio data, and he now works as a GIS Specialist/Developer with the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office.
This will be a virtual meeting. As always, there will be an attempt to record it. Here is the connection info:
