[Tilecache] IE, memcached

Hi All,

I lumped two things in the subject header because the one event
triggered the one question. The event : I noticed IE 7 shows an
incredible number of "remaining elements" in the bottom left corner when
a tilecached layer gets drawn. I do not see that in FF probably because
1) it loads the tiles faster and 2) it just doesn't show that number.
Looking at the number of remaining elements and waiting for IE to
render, I was wondering how I could make TC faster.

I'm already in mod_python so there's not much I can do there except
maybe go for mod_wsgi but I'm on windows and I'm not going that way for
now (no daemon mode for windows ...). So I remembered the TC readme and
figured there must be something faster than file-based caching.

So : can someone point me to the explanation as to why IE shows so may
"remaining elements" while FF doesn't -- and please don't just tell me
it's because it's slower ;-) -- and are there benchmarks on the relative
speed of the various ticaching options.

TIA,

Yves
