Hi All,

First of all big thank you to Ian for his efforts and work for the OSGeo: UK chapter and i hope Ian will continue as cochair so that whoever is new and joining as cochair will get support needed.

As Ian emailed, we hope there will be interest in the community to come forward and help support Ian as cochair for this. We are looking forward to see many of you (after a long time) at Nottingham in two weeks time and it will be a great opportunity to catch up and discuss ideas of where we should be going next with OSGeo:UK chapter activities etc.

It is also true that many of us currently could not spend as much time as we would have liked with the OSGeo:UK chapter activities because of other workloads/responsibilities (for example i am now fully focussed on the Education activities), so it is very helpful if new people can come forward and take responsibilities (not only cochairing but also in other activities like events organisation, help for the chapter website etc) to take it forward.

We look forward to discuss more ideas during our gettogether on 2nd Sep at 5pm during OSGIS 2014.

Best wishes,

Suchith

Subject: [OSGeo-UK] OSGeo UK annual gathering

Hi All,

After two years in post I've decided to stand down as chair of OSGeo:UK at our annual gathering in a couple of weeks time.

Fifth Open Source GIS Conference - OSGIS 2014
                 Nottingham Geospatial Institute
                 2 - 3 September 2014 - The University of Nottingham
                http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/osgis/

If you feel that you may be interested in taking over as chair then please get in touch to find out more, either by email or on the phone. It is a very exciting time to be so centrally involved in the community, and the position does not usually require a vast amount of time.

I've also considered continuing as co-chair and I would be happy to do this if you would like support in the role.

Ian
